<p>Here&#8217;s something that confuses almost every buyer I work with. Some homes in Highlands Ranch have a mailing address that says &#8220;Littleton, CO.&#8221; This does not mean you live in Littleton. It means the USPS routes your mail based on zip code zones, not city boundaries. A home with a Littleton mailing address can be physically located in Highlands Ranch, governed by Douglas County, and served by Douglas County schools.</p>

But what most people don&#8217;t realize until they move here is that you can actually hike right up into it, and that those trails are maintained by the community itself, not the county or the state.</p>

Whether you&#8217;re pushing a stroller, training for a half marathon, or just looking for a quiet walk after work, there&#8217;s a trail here for you.</p>

You&#8217;ll feel like you&#8217;re miles from civilization, even though your house is a 10-minute walk from the trailhead. This is the one I send people to when they say they want &#8220;real hiking&#8221; close to home.</p>

<p><strong>Spring (March–May):</strong> The best time for wildflowers on the lower trails. Bear activity picks up, so be aware.</p>

<p><strong>Summer (June–August):</strong> Start early. The hogback trails have minimal shade and temperatures can hit the 90s by mid-morning. The lower valley trails stay cooler thanks to tree cover. Carry water, there are no water stations on the trails.</p>

<p><strong>Fall (September–November):</strong> The best hiking season in Ken Caryl. Cool mornings, golden light on the hogbacks, and fewer crowds than summer. The cottonwoods along the valley trails turn gold in October and it&#8217;s worth the walk just for that.</p>

<p><strong>Winter (December–February):</strong> Most trails stay open year-round, but the upper trails can be icy. Microspikes or traction devices are a good idea for the Cathy Johnson and Lost Canyon trails after a snow. The lower loops stay clear and are great for winter walks on sunny days.</p>

<p>The space spans about 5,000 square feet. High ceilings and open rooms create an ideal setting for large installations and modern works.</p>



<p>Many of the original industrial elements remain. Concrete floors, exposed beams, and simple white walls allow the artwork to stand out.</p>
